We are very pleased to announce that our new backup application for Mac users is now ready to be rolled out!
As well as a various bug fixes, this release also includes a number of new feature, that have been requested by many of our users.
Windows users, don’t worry, we will be rolling out these features to you in the next few weeks.
New features for Mac users include…
Backup network shares using zovoConnect
We introduced zovoConnect to Windows users last month, this release adds support for Macs.
Backup of in-use files
Back up files even when they’re in use, without needing to lock them. So you can be confident that your documents are being backed up – even if they are open.
Partial upload support for files
Only upload changed portions of certain file types, making it easier to keep large, frequently changing files safely backed up. We’re constantly reviewing the types of files that are available for partial upload, currently we support ZIP, DMG, PST and DAT files. Let us know if you have other common file formats that would benefit.
Flexible scheduling
You decide the best time of day for zovo to backup your data.

Scan-based backup
Rather than watching your files all of the time, an hourly scan identifies which files have changed and backs up the changes, this reduces the load on your computer. You can see what the scan is doing at any time in the Status window.

Advanced users can still configure zovo to backup files in real time. Please note that changing to real time backups will mean zovo cannot backup in-use files, so it is only recommended for advanced users with a specific requirement to backup files instantly.
Great, so how do I get the update?
Most users will be able to update from within the current zovo application. Simply select Preferences > Updates > Check for Updates.
If this doesn’t work, then download the latest Mac package from myzovo.com, extract the zip file, and replace the “zovo” app within your Applications folder, with the newly extracted zovo app.
